Post Movie site vacation packages.
I think it would be a cool idea to offer movie filming location vacation packages. It would be a travel agency that sets-up vacation tours of the actual filming locations of one of your favorite movies.

For example, you could take the Deer Hunter package and you get a tour guide who takes you to all of the locations, including bars/steel mills that still might exist. The locations would be of your choice and the vacation can be as inclusive as you'd like. You could even include the filming sites in the Phillipines if you wish.

Or you could take the Forrest Gump package. Or if you are limited in funds, the Evil Dead package.

If you go kayaking on Kauai you can swing from the same tree that Indiana did while escaping from the pygmies in Raiders.

I've been to the location where Waterworld was filmed. Mel gibson finds land on the big island of Hawaii.

I think the old house from the original TX Chainsaw Massacre might still be standing. Supposed to be outside of Austin. I wouldn't mind checking that out.

Somebody had a website a while back about the filming locations for that movie, and they found a toy chainsaw hanging from a tree in the woods nearby. Somebody's got a sense of humor.

I'm pretty sure I read that the house was demolished because they wanted to use it again for the remake but they were out of luck.

I wish it was still standing, I'd want to go there and have a nice dinner.

I visited the high school that was used to film The Crazies. But it was before the movie was filmed. I visited it almost every week day for four years.

In Savannah you can see the place where they filmed the part of Forrest Gump where he's sitting on the bus stop bench. Also in Savannah, they have the graveyard from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I've met Lady Chablis.

The Crazies was filmed locally, and while I haven't visited the places they filmed personally, it wouldn't be out the way to do so.

About the only movie with notoriety filmed around here was Navy Seals, with Charlie Sheen.

The bar they are in called "The Ready Room" is just outside of NAS Oceana and shortly after the film, some guy was depressed and walked in there and blew his head off with a shotgun.

They also play golf at a golf course in VB I've played (or attempted to) before.

I was suprised at the continuity in the movie, because when Charlie Sheen gets his car towed at the golf course and jumps on the back of the tow truck, the scene plays out on the actual road leading away from the course.

On another note, I actually watched the movie Nights in Rodanthe because I've been by that house several times in NC. That movie didn't have continuity though, because aside from the house and the aerial shots of the road to it, nothing else in that movie was from down there. Especially the idea that that house was handed down through a black family. Almost absurd if you know the area down there.

Well, I hate to say this, but I think the Ted Bundy movie was shot some in Lake City and Live Oak. Live Oak (my hometown) tried to hold a trial there but it was too close to Lake City and Live Oak being the area where the Leach girl's body was found. And a local lawyer, Africano, was defending him. Which just about ruined his life with the locals there. I knew the lawyer and his wife, Betty, was a homecoming queen of Suwannee High in the '60's some time.

I get sick to my stomach anytime I think of them saying Bundy was a nice guy. Are people just retared these days, or what????

Apparently, before anybody knew who he really was, he was a charmer and very well spoken. Perfect example of why you can't trust anybody.

Secondly, I would think an Africano married to the homecoming queen named Betty would have raised and ire there too.

LOL! True. I remember the killing of Kimberly Leach. She was only 12 yrs old! I was a senior in high school when they found her body only two miles from where my mother worked. Which was about 10 miles from where I lived! I remember my parents consistantly harping on, "Do not stop for anyone, do not get in a car with people you do not know, keep your doors to your car locked....." and on and on. It freaked my simple country parents out.

He was one sick man. I felt good when he was executed in 1989.

We've all been lucky to make it this far.

I remember we used to play in the woods all the time around the neighborhood and the were a lot of weirdos out there and I've had my share of runs ins but got lucky. Like everybody most of the time.

Not only that, all the close calls and stuff we all have.
