Post New Leased vehicle
Well, we (or should I say she) took the plunge and got a 2015 Kia Sorento.

She wasnt happy with the Forester seating and was leaning towards the Obamamobile Equinox (shudder) when I steered her into looking at the KIA. She fell in love with it immediately.

Got a killer deal (I think). NO money down, they bought out the lease on the Subaru, gave us cash and her payments went down $60 a month. We also didnt have to pay about $800 out of pocket on the Subaru disposition and slight damages. Pretty happy with the deal and the car seems great.

Only thing I am worried about is the gas mileage is a little lower over the Subaru and the drivers seat isnt power as we change driver daily. Not crazy about the color, silver, but that is what she wanted, black interior is quite nice. Power seems acceptable for a 4 cylinder but I havent driven it much yet. Feels faster than the Subaru but not sure.

NEVER expected to own a KIA :green: Hoping for the best, all of the reviews are good and outstanding warranty. Same family as Hyundai so I dont think we went wrong.

Any exprerience with KIAs, comments, etc welcome.

Hey at least its built in America... LaGrange GA. to be specific. :)

KIA has come a long way... they used to be the laughingstock of the auto industry.

The Sorentos are looking good lately. Sounds like a pretty nice deal.

Y'all quit talking 'bout cars, now, though, I am trying to hold off on getting one!!!

Every used Kia I've driven has been a great car in great shape. They are sneaking up on the auto industry I think.

Drove it to the gym and back, averaging just about 23 MPG so while not as good as the Subaru not a gas hog either. What the window sticker claims. Not broken in either if that makes a difference these days.

Im liking it more and more. The logics on the radio/phone multimedia system work just the way I would have written the software. Guess I think like a Korean. :green:

Only minor thing I dont like so far is the electric motor power steering. Just a little loose at low speeds to my taste but nothing difficult to get used to. The more expensive models do have a 3 way setting for the steering that would probably fix that. If you have ever driven a 60s-70s era Chrysler product they were much worse. Like the steering wheel was free wheeling, not connected to anything.

Look at them, Therm. :green:
BTW, the Soul would be a good replacement for Omni. So ugly they grow on you. (Not Omni, the Soul :green: )
I hated them but took her to see them and decided I could live with one if she liked it. Some colors look really nice.

My problem with the Scion is that drives like poop. The plus side is that it gets good fuel mileage and it actually does have a lot of room in it. But, I don't sit it in comfortably and the suspension is horrible. You feel every minor bump.

Because of that, I'd replace the Scion before my Escape, even though I have more miles. I still enjoy my Escape a lot.

My shortlist of cars I'd consider to replace the Scion: Ford Fusion, Ford Focus (Titanium Sedan), Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata. The Focus is an outlier as it's more compact, but I do like the new style. And the Titanium Sedan is quite affordable.

But, yeah... holding off for now.

Why not a hatchback Focus? That's the body meant for that car, in my opinion.

Hmm I'd be down with the hatchback if Omni preferred that.

If Omni said tonight, "Let's get rid of this Scion and get something else", I'd cave on my resolve :teehee:

I wanted metallic red.
Testing the backup camera. This one is in the dash and works great. Hated the one in the mirror.

Yay for Lagrange GA, but Hyundai and Kia are still the laughing stock in my book. It's rare that Max and I disagree, but I'd rather have the tailpipe off the Equinox than 5 Kias. It's clearly no secret that I'm a GM nutswinger, but remember, I have to wrench on everything- And I stand by my position. Damn I'm starting to sound like the geezer here-

 Thank God it's a lease.

:yup:

Remember, its HER vehicle and HER choice paid for with HER money. :green:
She chose the Kia over the Equinox because she could see out of it much better and the much better deal Kia was able to offer plus the warranty. She hasnt been working much or making much money since her bout with cancer so Im sure that entered into it.

GM was about all I bought most of my life also but I am now throwing them in with Apple. Good products but but their business practices and ethics leave a lot to be desired so I choose not to support them.

Good to hear from you, Travis. Dont be a stranger.

Max still reigns as the coolest cat I know. Can't argue with you there as I don't Agree with most of these corporate assholes,. but it won't keep me from a product I love. I'm bullheaded and old school in that respect.- and prayers sent for her recovery. You know how much I love the C word. :2guns:

Thanks, T.

I still love GM products, not saying I wont buy another one but I highly doubt it unless its an older critter.

I find the new Vette fugly but a super performer and the new Camaro about the same. Both too pricey for me anyway and not interested in much else.

Glad I still have the TA. (Im not officially old until I sell it :green: )

I completely agree, hence my stable of old, boring (yet paid for) junk. And please, don't sell that car. I got nowhere to put it currently, and furthermore, I'll be damned if I'll let anyone else have it other than you. :)

So, go out to the new car yesterday morning and the drivers rear tire is completely flat!!! Appears she picked up a nail going out to get something for dinner Monday night.

Great way to start off a day. Does something always have to happen with a new car just about as soon as you get it? With the Subaru we went off for a week and she left the drivers window down at the airport. Inside was pretty wet but all was well when it dried out.

Have to say Kia handled it well. Sent a tow truck (thankfully it wasnt Ben ), took me to the dealership with them and repaired the tire in about an hour.
