I just want this to be the f'n wake up call to Congress to start seriously addressing our debt problem. We need reform everywhere and we need to all man up and get it done. Enough with the blame and finger pointing. That gets us nowhere - that get us where we are now, because that's all our stupid politicians seem to know how to do.

I agree with Hill. That means both sides or all sides. I'm so confused as to what kind of people we have running our country. Bunch of damn idiots in my book. The whole lot of them, I say!

TimMay!! Get your best bean counters and let's get to work!

this credit rating drop is like loaning your credit card to your kid to get some gas and the kid charges cigarettes/beer/snacks etc on it while filling up random customers cars at the gas station, taking their money while charging the gas on your card

This downgrading was all about the politics.

From the S&P Statement
Quote:
The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips in the debate over fiscal policy. Despite this year’s wide-ranging debate, in our view, the differences between political parties have proven to be extraordinarily difficult to bridge, and, as we see it, the resulting agreement fell well short of the comprehensive fiscal consolidation program that some proponents had envisaged until quite recently.
